Blessings and Butser

We started the week with a very important visitor. Bishop Richard came to bless our new buildings and celebrate Mass for the start of our school year. It was a lovely celebration and a chance to reflect on all the adjustments we had had to make and all the work that had gone into making the project a success. The last time Bishop Richard visited us was in the summer of 2019 for our Golden Jubilee outdoor Mass! We were very pleased to have him back again!

On Wednesday, Year 3 went to Butser Ancient Farm as part of their history learning about the ‘Stone Age to Iron Age’. The children had a wonderful day, learning about wattle and daub walls, round houses, cave paintings and carvings and even had a turn at being archaeologists! Luckily, we managed our picnic lunch and most of the activities before the torrential rain arrived!

Since the start of term, we have been listening to a different piece of music at the end of each assembly. This week we heard ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’ Greig, and the children loved it, the piece even got a round of applause at the end! I will try and keep this up and by the end of the year they will have heard a great variety of famous pieces!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
