Preparations and helping others

We started the week with our Advent Liturgy, blessing of the wreath and lighting our first candle to mark the first week of Advent. During our assembly on Wednesday, we talked about our preparations for Christmas, and how we need to be ready inside as well as on the outside. The children helped us move the Nativity figures closer to the stable, as they started on their journey to Bethlehem. We thought about how we can prepare ourselves and the little things we are doing to show kindness and love to others. This week we have had several opportunities to give and help those in need during this time.

Next week we have our Christmas Run for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice on Monday and Christmas Jumper Day, where donations will go to The Meath. Please support these wonderful local charities if you can.

Our KS 2 Choir sang on Wednesday evening at a very special Christmas Celebration concert at the Holy Trinity Church in Guildford to raise money for the Fountain Centre. The children sang so beautifully and were highly praised by the audience. The other choirs were amazing too: The Surrey Hills Chamber Choir and Rock Choir. It was a wonderful experience taking part in the concert and having the opportunity to listen to such lovely singing. We all left feeling very proud and Christmassy!

Much to the children’s delight, a mischievous elf has made an appearance at lunchtime this week. He was wearing a tiny set of chef’s whites and making friends with a snowman! What will he get up to next week?

Year 3 children celebrated their learning with a StoneAge day on Wednesday and Year 4 are enjoying their Greek Day today complete with Greek dancing!

Rehearsals have been going well for our Christmas Performances and the children in Years R, 1 and 2 performed their dress rehearsal for the school this morning! Our audience gave rave reviews, praising the singing, actions and dancing. You are in for a treat next week!

Have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
