We love books!

The highlight of the week has been World Book Day, which we are celebrating today! The children were dressed in amazing costumes. I am always so impressed by all the creative ideas they come up with. Seeing everyone dressed up together in the hall really did put a smile on all our faces. This year we saw DogMan, The Worst Witch, Cat in the Hat, a few Where’s Wallys, fairys, princesses. Some of the ideas were amazing! We had Mr Tumnus, Pope Benedict, Moaning Myrtle, the dragon from Room on the Broom, and Billionare Boy’s Dad! There were class winners for the best costumes. The teachers made a wonderful effort too. Amongst other characters, we had Miss Honey, Wednesday Addams, a tiger who came to tea, Harry Potter and Willy Wonka. We love reading at St Edmund’s!

We have a busy weekend with many KS 2 children taking part in the Godalming School’s swimming gala and a few running in the final cross country competition too! Good luck to all our competitors.

Year R had a very special visitor on Tuesday morning; Veterinary Nurse Freja and her dog Amber! The children learnt about looking after dogs and even carried out a health check on Amber.

On Wednesday afternoon, there was a very special Mother’s Day Celebration Assembly led by Year R. This is always a special treat for the mummies and for many of the children, the first time that they have sung and spoken in front of a big audience. It was so funny to hear about the things the children love about their mummies, lots of mentions of food and chocolate, washing their clothes and trips to the dump featured too!

I hope the children make a special effort to look after their mummies this Sunday and remember to thank them for all they do!

Have a lovely weekend,
