Last day...

What a strange week we have had! I didn’t ever expect us to be in this position and I feel very sad that we have to close the school for most pupils this afternoon. Despite the rapid changes we have tried hard to continue as normal this week and the children have enjoyed spending precious time with their friends and teachers. We will have some learning activities for each class on the website ready for Monday. We wish you all success with the home learning.

This week, our Year R class have enjoyed a visit from Nurse Holly as part of their ‘People who help us’ topic. The children were all bandaged up on Tuesday, it was great fun! They will hold their Mother’s Day celebration this afternoon as planned and it is always lovely, Year R mummies, you are in for a treat!

On Tuesday Year 2 went to Brooklands Motor Museum. They had a wonderful day, the museum was deserted and they even went on board Concorde!

On Wednesday, Year 6 spent the day at Wintershall where they walked the Way of the Cross and took part in reflective, drama workshops. Being at Wintershall is always very special and we all appreciated the open air, the sunshine and the beauty of the world around us. The Stations of the Cross at Wintershall are all different and through making the journey that Jesus made, the children are better able to understand how the characters felt and reflect on their own lives during Lent and particularly at this strange time.

Yesterday Year 3 had an animal day as their visit from Graham at Hydestile had to be cancelled. The children and teachers all dressed up as animals and had a lovely time together. Here they are:

We are going to have our Easter egg hunt this afternoon, much to the excitement of the children, it might be two weeks earlier than planned but the children are really pleased not to be missing this event!

We have had a special assembly this morning so that we could all be together at this unusual and worrying time. I have been so impressed by the children’s maturity and thoughtfulness. I will miss them all very much. Thank you all for your support and keep in touch, let us know how you all are and if you need anything, please let me know.

Look after each other and keep in touch,
