Wastebuster Workshops at St Edmunds Primary School.
This week saw great excitement in st Edmunds School when a crew came
from Wastebuster, as part of our Eco-Schools work. James Strawbridge,
from the BBC (BBC2’s ‘Its Not Easy Being Green’), was also in school all
day. Wastebuster have decided to help bring environmental education into
the classrooms by combining their awareness-raising programme with an
option for exciting makeover workshops and St Edmunds were invited to
take part! Year 6 spent the morning being filmed regarding eco issues,
and workshops were held for Years 4, 5 and 6 regarding composting and
land-fill issues but also sustainability. Not only did the children
learn a great deal, but also the curriculum was brought alive and made
purposeful for the children. The whole day will be on the Wastebuster
website and St Edmund’s will feature at the National Eco-Schools
conference. Congratulations are also due to our Eco school committee, as
we have now achieved Eco-Schools Silver Award and will be working
towards a Green Flag next year.
