self-respect and respect for the rights and needs of others
• To ensure effective teaching of the whole curriculum which meets
individual needs and interests, so that all pupils enjoy and achieve in
their learning

further encouraged to develop their moral and spiritual well-being
within a Christian community.
• To ensure there is a strong and active partnership between school,
home and the Church in which all make a positive contribution
• To develop greater self-awareness by cultivating pupils’ appreciation
of their impact on their community and the wider world
• To value the effective use of time by encouraging pupils to become
self-disciplined and self-motivated
• To ensure that pupils have the self-confidence to cope with change,
embrace opportunities presented in life, and promote economic well-being
• To be a dynamic and forward-thinking community which positively
embraces new challenges.
Governing Body
The Governors have overall responsibility of overseeing the general
running of the school, its curriculum, appointing staff, deciding an
admissions policy and administrating the school’s annual budget. There
are eight Foundation Governors, including the parish priest, who are
appointed by the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton and one appointed by
Surrey County Council. There is also the Headteacher, two other staff
governors and two parent governors.
Parent and Foundation Governors are appointed for a term of four years
of office. The intention is to have a balanced Governing Body where some
foundation governors are also parents of children currently in the
Catholic Education System.
Any correspondence directed to The Governing Body should be addressed to
The Chair of Governors and sent to the school office.

Governors’ Fund
Governors act on behalf of the school in an entirely voluntary capacity
and are given no financial assistance for the performance of their
duties. As a body they are responsible for a considerable portion of
repairs and maintenance because the school is Voluntary Aided. In
essence this means the Governors must pay all bills and subsequently
claim back 90% from the DfES, which can take many months or years. The
10% shortfall is funded by the Governors’ Fund.
All parents are asked to make a minimum contribution to the annual
Governors’ Fund of £60 per family. The fund is provided exclusively by
parents with children attending our school, therefore, in all fairness
every family is asked to contribute.
Audited accounts of The Fund are published annually.
