Happy Easter everyone...

What a term it has been! We started the spring term back on Monday 4th January, with everyone in school, which seems so long ago now. So much has happened since then the lockdown, remote learning, testing for staff, vaccinations for some, but the best thing by far has been having all the children back at school for the past four weeks.

We have made the most of being back together over the last few weeks. Giving the children time to enjoy being together as a class has been so important after lockdown and they have enjoyed learning, assemblies, dressing up days and our Golden assembly and Easter egg hunt this morning.

There was great excitement on Tuesday with Year 3’s Sheep Pig Day. After studying the book by Dick King-Smith, the children dressed up as characters from the story and enjoyed biscuit making and watching the film ‘Babe’ in the afternoon. Do have a look at our half-termly newsletter to see what every class has been up to in the last few weeks.

On Tuesday afternoon Father Jonathan joined KS 2 for a special Holy Week liturgy. He even brought enough palm crosses and leaves for every child. We all sat outside in the sunshine and thought about Jesus’ journey into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.

Our Year 6 children have managed to put together their wonderful Passion Play in just a couple of weeks. The children were inspired by walking the Way of the Cross at Wintershall and thought so carefully about the characters and how they would have felt. Although we couldn’t have a live audience this time, we have shared the video with the whole school. We hope you enjoy watching it too.

Today we officially join the Xavier Trust and we look forward to working together with our local Catholic schools. Being united and working together is the best way to grow and support one another.

We look forward to more warm sunny weather and a summer term where we can enjoy more opportunities to be together as a school community.

Have a lovely Easter,

Elizabeth
