Strawberry picking and parables at Wintershall

This week has flown by! We started the week with our assemblies talking about Jesus healing Jairus’s daughter and the importance of having faith. The children thought of ways that they can be kind and help everyone in need. There are little things that they can all do to show love and kindness to others every day.

Year R children had their very first school trip on Monday. They were very excited and the coach journey was a highlight! They had a wonderful day at Tuesley Farm where they picked strawberries, found out about how the fruit is packaged and had a tractor ride around the farm even enjoying the playground too! They returned loaded up with crates of strawberries to take home and share to in school. It was a wonderful first school trip for them.

Father Jonathan joined Years 4, 5 and 6 in school to Tuesday morning to celebrate Mass for the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. It is the first time that we have been able to have Mass in school for a long time.

Yesterday our Year 4 children set off on an adventure, walking to the Wintershall Estate where we all spend the day walking the parables of Jesus. The children enjoyed the walk there through lanes and fields, they even managed the final steep hill up to the Holly Barn. We watched five different parables told by the actors who engaged fully with their audience! The children especially enjoyed the dramatic retelling of The Good Samaritan with thieves and bandits emerging from their hiding places. It was a long day, with lots of walking, but the children all really enjoyed it, I think they would have slept well last night!

We have our sports morning and moving up sessions next week which I know the children are looking forward to.

Have a lovely weekend,
