It’s been a cold week, and it feels as if winter is well and truly on its way. It’s almost December and this weekend is the first Sunday of Advent. On Monday morning we talked about the Feast of Christ the King and it being the last Sunday in the church’s year. We also had a visit from Sam from the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. She came to talk to the children about the amazing work that the hospice do and how our Reindeer Run will help. The children are very excited about the run, please do fill in the sponsorship envelopes and support this worthwhile cause. The children really enjoy any opportunity to help and support others and at the start of Advent, it is a great way to show this through the little things we can all do to make a difference.

The cold weather and clear skies made perfect conditions for our first star gazing evening. Thank you to everyone who came, it was a wonderful evening. The children were very excited to be back at school in the dark. With Tom to guide us, we could see so many constellations. He kept us all engaged. The children made rockets to launch in the playground. It was a really successful evening. The bright smudge at the top of the picture is Jupiter! 

Yesterday I spent the day with our Diocesan Headteachers. It can be difficult to find the time to attend events out of school as we are all so busy, but it was a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues. We also had a wonderful guest speaker, Chris Lubbe who worked as Nelson Mandela’s bodyguard. His tales of his life and experiences were truly inspiring, and he shared his very important message of the importance of forgiveness and the difference we can make to the lives of others.

Today everyone is looking very colourful in their mufti and crazy hair! Lots of sweets have been collected ready for the sweet tombola at the Christmas Market.

It’s always a very busy time of preparation and a lovely time to be in school together.
