Friday 14th January

Winter learning

It’s been a cold and wintery week but with some beautiful frosty mornings and winter sunshine. It’s amazing to see that, already, the days are lengthening, and it is a little lighter in the afternoons. There was a great turnout for cross-country this morning. Once we had all warmed up, it was a wonderful way to start the day! The week seems to have gone really quickly and the children have steeled back to school so well.

During our assembly on Monday we thought about the Baptism of Jesus and imagined that we were there at the River Jordan as Jesus was baptised by his cousin John. We used a short animation to look at the story again and talked about what we remembered form the story and the different signs and symbols of Baptism. We thought about different versions and retellings of the same story and the differences and similarities we could see. Baptism brings a new start, and we thought about how we can make a new start each day.

During our staff meeting, we looked at the children’s learning in their exercise books, in all subject areas. It is great to see the progression across the school from Year R to Year 6. We were all impressed by the high standard of work and the pride that the children are taking in their learning. Keep it up everyone! We have also held progress meetings with all the teachers this week. This gives us a chance to talk about all the children and look at how they are all doing with their learning. The teachers know all the children so well and whilst there are a few children who need a bit of a boost this term, everyone is making really good progress.

Have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
