It has been another cold, wintery week with quite a few challenges for us at school. We have seen high numbers of positive COVID cases right across the school, including the staff. This meant that we have had to re-introduce class bubbles in Years 1, 3 and 5. Fortunately, things are looking much better as we approach the weekend, with fewer new cases and more children returning to school. We are all hoping this trend continues into next week.

We started the week with our assembly on Monday morning, talking about the Wedding at Cana and how Jesus started to reveal himself through this first miracle. The children were really good at using their detective skills to look at a painting of this scene and think about what was happening. We can make changes in our lives which will make a difference to others.

Rather than Blue Monday, we had ‘Blue Letter Day’ on Monday, where the children wrote letters and pictures to give to other people, on blue paper to show their gratitude. We talked about how this can make both people feel really special. We also reminded everyone of how important it is talk to a trusted adult, if you have worries. I had some really beautiful letters delivered to me by some children in Year 1, which I was very grateful to receive. It was a lovely, sunny morning and I think everyone felt that we had had a happy day at school.

Our Year 6 children were invited to Charterhouse school on Tuesday afternoon to take part in science activities. The children were able to experiment with a range of chemical and physical reactions in the science labs, it was very exciting, and they are looking forward to returning next week.
