Spring sunshine

Friday 25th March 2022

What a wonderful, sunny week we have had! The glorious spring sunshine has really lifted everyone’s spirits this week. The children have certainly been having fun in the playground. I do hope the good weather lasts into the Easter holidays too.

It was the turn of Year 4 to have a school trip this week. The children went to Rugged Earth for an outdoor team- building adventure on Tuesday. They all had a wonderful time!

Year 5 children enjoyed a trip to space when the planetarium came to visit on Tuesday morning. They crawled inside the inflatable dome and were transported through the stars. It’s always a great experience!

Fr Jonathan joined us on Wednesday morning for an RE learning walk. He looked at the children’s learning in the Come and See books and visited them in class, looking at their prayer areas and talking to the children.

I hope that many of you will be able to pop into school next Thursday afternoon to have a look at the children’s work. I know that this is something parents have missed with the virtual parent evenings.

There is a green mossy nest rapidly taking shape in the birdbox. See if you can spot the new residents busy in their work here: http://www.seenature.org.uk/schools/st-edmunds-cep-school/

Our Year R children are ready to share a very special celebration assembly with their mummies this afternoon. It is two years since we last had this event. I remember it was rather emotional as we knew that it was the final day of school before the first lockdown in March 2020. Two years on things and different. On Sunday, Mother’s Day, I hope that all our St Edmund’s mums have a lovely day and are very well looked after. Please do join us for our School Mass at 8.45am at St John’s Farncombe, if you can. (Remember that the clocks go forward, so it will feel extra early!)

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend,

Elizabeth
