Welcome back everyone, it is Friday already; this week seems to have flown by! We are now in our last half-term of this school year.

The children in year R have been enjoying their new playhouse. Thank you very much to the PSA who have paid for it for them. I’m sure that there will be many happy hours of play, parties and families!

Our Year 6 children had a wonderful WWII day at Henley Fort, yesterday. They experienced life as an ARP warden and volunteer in the Home Guard. They tried on uniforms, took part in a road blockade, dealt with enemy spies and invaders and put out a fire using the rather leaky stirrup pumps!

On Tuesday evening two of our Year 6 pupils took part in the annual public speaking competition held at St Dunstan’s Church in Woking. All the speakers were wonderful, very confident and presented thoughtful, well planned speeches. Holly talked about equal pay for men and women in sport and Sophie’s speech was about whether plastics should be banned. They both spoke brilliantly, and we were delighted to hear that Sophie was awarded the third prize overall. Well done to you both.

We continued our Jubilee celebrations this week with workshops and an assembly led by Emily from Chertsey Museum, on Tuesday. The children were part of the coronation procession and created a human timeline showing fashions and technology from the last seventy years.

I have a mountain of wonderful entries ready for our Jubilee exhibition this afternoon. It has been lovely to see all the creative and varied ways that the children have presented their learning. I have particularly enjoyed looking at the old photos of some of our families. Do come in and have a look after school.
