Good Shepherd Celebration, Bikeability and Challenge day winners!

It is always a busy time of year in school but this week seems to have been exceptionally so! We have had classes out every day on trips and visitors in school too!

All week our Year 6 children have been out cycling as part of their Bikeability course. They have enjoyed the lessons and most importantly we hope that the training has improved their safety on the roads.

On Monday our Year 5 class was invited to Farnborough Hill School to watch a production of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The class enjoyed the visit and the performance.

On Tuesday Year 4 was visiting the Roald Dahl Museum, where they learnt more about his writing and saw the shed where he wrote his famous books. Year 2 had a wonderful range to old toys to look at thanks to their visit from Chertsey Museum. Year 5 took part in ‘wellbeing workshops’ in school as part of Feeling Good week, which we are celebrating across the school this week.

I took eighteen children from across Key Stage 2 to represent the school at the Good Shepherd celebration at Worth Abbey on Wednesday. The children really enjoyed the service, led by Bishop Richard, which included wonderful singing and dance. Almost all schools in the Diocese were represented and it was very exciting to be part of such a large celebration. The theme of the day was ‘We are bread to the world’ and the children from each school presented a loaf of bread (made form salt dough) and received a special scroll from the Bishop. We managed to enjoy a picnic and game on the grass outside the Abbey before the rain set in again!

We had the judges from the Godalming in Bloom competition here yesterday morning and thanks to Gardening Club and Mr Judge’s green fingers (and the rain) the flowers and prayer garden are certainly blooming.

Twelve children from year 5 were out again, this time at a team challenge day at the Royal School. The girls team came join first and proudly told us about their day during assembly this morning!

Today the children in Year 4 are spending the day at the Wintershall Estate watching the ‘Life of Christ’. It is always an amazing production and I am hoping to join them at lunchtime for the afternoon.

I’m also delighted to say that following our recent inspection we are still an Outstanding Catholic School, please do read the report going out with the newsletter today.

It looks like another busy week to come next week but thankfully, it sounds as though summer is making a return too!

Have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
