Houses of Parliament, Life Bus and Harvest Celebration...

Thank you to all the families who came to last Sunday's School Mass, it was wonderful to see so many families there, especially those who are new to our school. The children read, sang and behaved extremely well and they all enjoyed helping with the Mass. I’m sure Fr David enjoyed his last school mass with us.

All the children have visited the Life Bus this week. Each class has a different learning experience and with the help of Gerald the Giraffe in KS 1, they all enjoyed learning about their bodies and how to stay healthy. The children do like the annual Life Bus visits!

We started our week with an assembly celebrating the children's learning from Little Way Week last week. The children learnt all about St Therese of Lisieux. They thought about little things that they could do every day to help others and share love as Therese did. The children have really been inspired by finding out about her short life. I hope they continue to do these little things at home this weekend!

On Tuesday I took our KS 2 school councillors to the Houses of Parliament. We travelled to London by train and walked across Westminster Bridge, the children enjoyed seeing the sights. It was reassuring to see a large police presence and we managed not to get caught up in the Extinction Rebellion protest! It did make an exciting learning opportunity and I was very impressed by the children’s knowledge of current affairs. During our visit we had a tour of Parliament; and a workshop about the Suffragettes. The children were very well behaved and returned safely with a great understanding of how powerful their voices can be.

This morning we have enjoyed a great celebration assembly, this time led by Year 4. The children taught us all about the Invictus Games. They have been learning about the athletes and their lives and demonstrated some of the different sports they have found out about. They gave us a very powerful message of how important it is to have determination, resilience and bravery in all that we do.  Well done Year 4.

We have our Harvest Liturgy this afternoon; Fr David’s last visit to our school. Thank you all for you generous donations which will go to the Godalming Foodbank. Please come and join us this afternoon at 2;30pm.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Elizabeth
