Back to school for everyone at last!

Friday 4th September 2020

Welcome to a new school year, and what a strange year it has been! Despite all the challenges, changes and new rules and routines, we have got all the children back to school. It has been wonderful to see everyone returning, the children are all looking very grown up and smart in their uniforms, some have grown so much while they were away! The children are full of excitement, a few nerves, but mainly just pleased to be here, back with their friends and their learning.  We are all really looking forward to the new school year and I think this September, we do appreciate all the little things so much more.It is always such an exciting time of year; a time to celebrate new beginnings and look to the future full of hope, promise and possibilities.

We welcomed Florence in Year 1, Rafi in Year 2, Freddie and Olivia in Year 3 and Harriet to Year 5. Our new Reception class children will be visiting school next week and starting the following Monday, we can’t wait to have them with us and get to know them all.

We have also welcomed a new member of staff; Mrs Holden who will be teaching Year 4 on Mondays and Year 3 on Fridays. We also have Miss Leal our Schools Direct student who will be based in Year 1. I’m sure you will make our new children, families and staff feel very welcome.

Our new hall display, part of which is pictured above, shows photos, pictures and work completed by all the children in the school, some home learning, some in school showing that even whlie we were apart we were together.

I spent most of yesterday leading assemblies with different groups of children where we talked about the past six months, our lockdown experiences, home learning, what has been good, what has changed, what we have missed and what we can all do to have a happy and successful year together. I think we are all ready to get started on this year’s journey. We are all looking forward to the exciting year ahead, whatever it may bring, we’re ready!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
