Together, although apart

Friday 11th September 2020

We have finished a full week back and we are all getting used to the new routines and things are running more smoothly. The children have adapted so well and they are working very hard and still smiling too!

Thank you for your efforts to meet the new drop off and collection times. From Monday 14th, we will push the collection times back a little, as you will have seen in my letter earlier this week. This will mean less disruption in the classrooms at the end of the day and hopefully, less time waiting to collect the children for you.

It's hard to plan too far ahead at the moment and we’re all doing our very best to keep everyone safe and happy.

On Monday, the children in KS 2 virtually joined a special Mass celebrated by Bishop Richard from Arundel Cathedral for schools at the start of the new school year. Although apart, it is good to feel that connection to out wider family in the diocese.

Yesterday, the whole school joined CAFOD’s national assembly, ‘The World We Want’. Again, it is lovely to be part of something big, even when sitting in the classroom. The children were really inspired by the message that together we really can create the world we want. They are completing pledge cards, see Year 3 abvove, to show what they would like to do. You can watch the assembly here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bm4Zb3_uQJs&safe=true

During my assemblies this week we took time to talk about our first week back at school and how everyone is feeling, we discussed any problems and reminded each other how to stay safe. We also celebrated Mary’s birthday and talked about her life and why she is special to us. We looked at the rosary beads and said the Hail Mary together and asked Mary to pray for us.

On Monday, our Year R children will join us. We can’t wait to have them here and to get to know them all. Although things are very different this year, I’m sure you will help them to feel part of our school family.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, enjoy the September sunshine,
