Belated World Book Day!
It has been lovely to see the children coming into school this morning in their amazing book character costumes! There are some wonderful costumes, and such creative ideas, well done everyone. There was great excitement when we managed to get the whole school out in the playground, well spaced out in their class groups, to watch each class parade around the playground. It is these things that the children have really missed out on over the last year. It is more than a year since we had the whole school together. They have really enjoyed seeing each other’s costumes and of course, celebrating their love of reading!
Next week is Holy Week and, as we are in school, it gives the children a great opportunity to learn and think more deeply about the journey Jesus made during his last week on earth. Year 6 are preparing a virtual Passion Play to share with children and parents and it will be wonderful, just a shame we can’t have a live audience, yet. The Lenten hall display makes a great backdrop for the play.
During our assemblies this week we talked about our preparations for Easter and the Holy Family. The children shared their learning about St Joseph and we talked about Mary and the Feast of the Annunciation, which was celebrated yesterday. We have also had CAFOD assemblies this week, where we have thought about people around the world who do not have everything we have and especially those who have to walk miles and miles to collect water every day.
The clocks go forward this weekend, and it will seem darker and very early on Monday morning but by the afternoon we will all be enjoying the extra daylight and the lighter evenings. We have only four days in school next week and I think everyone is looking forward to the Easter holidays and a very well deserved rest.
Have a lovely weekend,
Elizabeth
