Moving on and moving up!

It was an exciting week in school with the promise of Sports Day and Moving Up morning too. As the weather was damp and drizzly on Wednesday we decide to postpone Sports Morning until next week, Friday 16th, when we hope the sun shines for us!  Nothing could dampen our spirits yesterday morning with England’s victory over Denmark the night before, there were a few tired faces! The children enjoyed their ‘moving up’ morning. I was so proud of the way that they all came into school, looking smart and ready to meet their new teachers. There was a lovely atmosphere in every class as the children found out about what the next school year will hold. Our Year 6 children had a morning of PE and a film in the hall, so they were quite happy too!

The children have been very excited about the football, and they are really looking forward to the final against Italy on Sunday! Good luck England!

This week, during our assemblies, we talked about Jesus growing up as a carpenter with Mary and Joseph and how when preaching in his own town, others didn’t believe him. We talked about how we can sometimes judge other people and not really get to know them and how special they are. We talked about recognising each other’s gifts and talents and celebrating these with our friends.

Our Year 6 class are having a wonderful retreat day today at Wintershall. They have been reflecting on their time at St Edmund's, how much they have grown and changed during their time here and thinking about moving up to their secondary schools in September. They have much to celebrate, and they are all enjoying the day together in such a beautiful, peaceful setting.

We have the first of our Year 4 children making their First Holy Communion this Sunday in two special Masses. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they make this important step in their spiritual journey. We hope the sun shines too!

Have a lovely weekend,
