Back to school

Welcome to a new school year. I hope that everyone had a lovely break over the summer; the children have been telling me all about their exciting adventures and holidays. We always say the weather is lovely as soon as the children go back to school and that has certainly been true this summer! It has been much hotter this week than for the whole month of August! The children have been so excited to be back at school, and seeing all their happy, smiling faces coming in to school and being together again in assembly has been amazing. They have enjoyed playing all together in the playground, a new experience for many of the children!

There have been some great improvements around the school over the summer; complete redecoration of the Year 3 and 4 block, with new carpets, paint and lighting; new internal doors in Year R, 5 and 6 and this corridor has been re-decorated too; changing the layout of the Year 2 classroom to maximise space. Everything is very fresh and new; a great way to start the year.

It has been wonderful to see everyone returning to school this week, the children are all looking very grown up and smart in their uniforms. They are full of excitement for their new classes, all that they are going to learn and they are really looking forward to the new school year. It is always such an exciting time of year; a time to celebrate new beginnings and look to the future full of hope, promise and possibilities. We welcomed Megan to Year 1, Freddie and Jude to Year 3, Ambrose to Year 4 and Aria and Max to Year 5. Our new Reception class will start school on Monday, we can’t wait to have them with us and get to know them all. I’m sure you will make all our new families feel very welcome.

During our first assemblies this week we have thought about the summer that we have had and how things have changed this year. We have also talked about the Olympic and Paralympics and how we can be inspired by the athletes skill and determination. We know that we will have a happy and successful year together. I think we are all ready to get started on this year’s journey. We are all looking forward to the exciting year ahead.

We will be able to invite you in to school next Tuesday at 3.20pm for our ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions.  (Yr 1 to 6) We look forward to seeing you then.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
