Enjoying learning

It’s the last Friday in January and not a lot has changed since last week. It’s still been cold and we are still managing quite a few Covid cases. Covering staff has been more difficult this week, but we have managed to get to Friday!

We were all back together for our assembly on Monday morning, where we talked about Jesus teaching in the synagogue and how we can share the good news through what we do, think and say. The children have been enjoying singing together too, and learning some hymns, which are all new to the younger children. They have been learning Christ Be Our Light, and they were really good at making links between the gospel reading and the lyrics of the hymn.

One of the highlights for me has been teaching Year 2 and 5, it has been lovely to spend more time in the classrooms. Seeing all the children learning and the progress the children have been making is really great. We created a whole class collage in Year 5 inspired by Rene Magritte’s painting, Golconda. Then, this afternoon, we are going to do some art in Year 2, which I’m looking forward to!

Year 6 children went back to Charterhouse School on Tuesday afternoon for the second of their science sessions, this time physics.  Two ‘egg-citing’ egg challenges were ready for them. An egg drop and collision challenge. It was great fun and the children are learning so much as they plan and work together. The final session, biology, is next week.

Have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
