All together again!

It has been good to be back at school this week. Having the Bank Holiday for the Queen’s Funeral on Monday, has meant we are still catching up with everything this week, but we are now well into the term and September is moving fast. We have had the whole school in full time this week and the Year R children have settling in brilliantly, it feels as if they have always been here, you can see them in the picture. We are loving getting to know them all! All the children had their school photographs taken on Tuesday morning, they looked very smart.

On Tuesday afternoon we talked about the Queen’s funeral and our new King Charles III. The children have been so interested in the events of the past two weeks, and I’m sure that it is a time that they will remember in years to come. Year 6 also found time to tell everyone a little of their adventures too!

On Wednesday morning we had a Learning Walk, looking at learning and teaching in English. By visiting every class and seeing the children’s learning, we can gather a great picture of what is going on across the school. We saw some great phonics lessons and reading practice sessions with our new scheme Little Wandle. The children are very enthusiastic about their learning and there was a wonderful, productive atmosphere in every classroom.

We have started the day with some early cross-country running at Busbridge Rec, it was great to see so many children starting their day with a run, even though the weather was a bit damp!

Have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
