Keeping safe and Year 2's assembly

It’s been another busy week here at school.

We started the week with a visit from the Breck Foundation. They led a series of workshops for the children about internet safety. Through carefully planned, age appropriate activities the children thought about who they could trust online and why it is so important not to share personal information. The evening’s parent session was well attended and hopefully useful too. Next week we will be taking part in Safer Internet Day, so this will follow on well. The Internet is an amazing resource for children and the more they know the better able they are to look after themselves and have fun.

During our assembly yesterday we talked about Candlemas and the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, celebrated on the 2nd February, forty days after Christmas. We learned about the tradition of the rhyme: 'If Candlemas Day be fair and bright, winter will have another fight. If Candlemas Day brings cloud and rain, winter won't come again'. The weather was quite fair yesterday, so we may be in for a bit more wintery weather before spring arrives.

This morning we were treated to a wonderful class assembly from Year 2. The children told us about their favourite books and the books of the bible. They retold the story of Noah's ark and a modern day version of the good Samaritan. Thank you for sharing this important message of kindness to others.

Have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
