Happy Easter everyone!

The Easter holidays start today and as the months fly past, we took time this morning to reflect on all our achievements this term.  I do hope it gets a bit warmer over the holidays!

On Monday, we took a group to the Xavier Trust Science Fair Final, at the Royal Holloway College. It was an amazing day, with a lecture in the auditorium, visits to all the stall and exhibitions presented by the other schools and also external visitors like Water Aid, Pfizer and Brooklands Museum. The children loved the day and proudly shared their projects with the judges and visitors. We were all delighted that Catherine in Year 6 was one of the overall runners-up.

We were all treated to Year 6’s amazing Passion Play on Tuesday morning. It was perfect, the children had put so much thought into the characters that they played and approached each role with wonderful maturity and empathy. The singing was beautiful, it was a great team performance. Thank you so much to Mrs Hua and Mrs Clifford for putting the play together, it is a very special part of our Easter preparations at St Edmund’s and something the whole school community looks forward to each year. Thank you Year 6.

The Easter cake competition yesterday was a huge success. The entries were amazing; we have some very talented bakes in our midst! Josefine came to admire all the entries and help me choose winners, one of the most difficult jobs I have had, as every entry could have been a winner. Thank you to everyone that baked and ate the cakes.

Yesterday, we had our Easter Egg hunt. The children collected tokens from around the playground and exchanged these for a chocolate bunny. It was over in a flash, but the children enjoyed it!

We finished the term with our Golden assembly this morning. We heard about all the wonderful things that have been happening this half-term, the Headteacher’s Awards, sports competitions and Easter Cake competition winners.

Have a happy and peaceful Easter holiday,

Elizabeth
