We're off to Neverland!

It’s hard to believe it’s the final Friday of this school year, where does the time go! We will have a busy four days of celebrations and goodbyes next week.

This week we were treated to our Year 6 Production of ‘Peter Pan’. The children were amazing, such talented singers and actors. The whole school was transfixed by the performance. They loved the story, and they were especially keen on the scenes with Captain Hook and the crocodile! The choice of play was just right, with a great mix of songs, pirates, mermaids; something for everyone! The theme of growing up, so central to Peter Pan, really reflected Year 6's journey. Watching them grow over the last seven years has been a real honour. I think they are now almost ready to leave us! Well done Year 6, we are very proud of you all.

The Year 1 children had a lovely outing on Tuesday morning, to Pizza Express, where they made their own pizza and learnt about pizza, the dough and the ingredients used. It was the first time that many of them had tackled the steps down to town and up again! The children like to count the steps, I think there are about ninety-five but the number does vary sometimes! They had a great morning and really enjoyed making and eating their pizzas.

On Tuesday, we celebrated another great success; the Year 6 SATs results were finally released. The children did exceptionally well; 93% of the children achieved the expected standards in maths and grammar and 90% in reading. These results are well above the National averages. An amazing achievement, especially as these children missed a significant amount of school in Year 3 and 4.

You will receive the children’s reports via Arbor this afternoon. Any formal end of Year assessments will be coming home in an envelope today too. We hope you will be very proud of all the children have achieved this year, we certainly are.

Have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
