May Procession

It's the last day before the half-term holiday. Everyone has been busy this week, and we are all ready for a restful break!

We managed our May Procession to Ladywell Convent on Wednesday despite the damp, drizzly conditions. I'm really pleased that we did go ahead as it was such a special morning. The children love walking there, talking with their friends and chatting with different children. The older ones walk with the younger children and this works really well. We sang and prayed together in the beautiful chapel before walking to Minster Field to pay our flowers at the statue of Mary. We then walked back to school through the woods and had our picnic at school in the hall! It is a wonderful experience being in the chapel together and those who hadn't been before were struck by the calm beauty of the place, the mosaics and the stained-glass windows. Our walks to Ladywell Convent are a special part of being at St Edmund's and something I hope the children will always remember.

Year 2 stepped back in time on Tuesday and met the lady with the lamp, Florence Nightingale! They had a great day, taking on the different roles of nurses and soldiers during the Crimean war. They had a wonderful day.

We have our class photos being taken this morning. The children look very smart. I hope you like the photographs!

We will finish the day with our Golden Assembly. The children always look forward to this and enjoy hearing about all the success and achievements this term.

Have a wonderful half-term holiday. See you all in June!
