Ciao! Today is Italian Day!
The children look amazing in their red, white and green and Italian outfits. There are activities and workshops planned for the children today; in KS 2: art, pizza making, music, Fibonacci numbers; and singing and puppets for Year R/ KS1. Everyone is very excited! We will see the glorious costumes this afternoon in our assembly.
Although it is now the middle of June, it feels as if we are still waiting for summer to begin. Hopefully it will get warmer over the coming weeks ready for the summer holiday!
We started the week with first aid training for Year 5 and 6. The children learnt about the recovery position, resuscitation and treatments for minor injuries. Hopefully, these sessions will give them the confidence to step up in an emergency. Well done everyone.
On Tuesday evening, two of our Year 6 pupils, Jacob and Tabatha, took part in the annual Public Speaking competition held at St Dunstan's Church in Woking. The standard of the speeches was very high and they both spoke with confidence and maturity. Tabatha talked about whether animals should be kept in zoos and Jacob's speech was 'How to solve a 3x3 Rubik's cube', which he did very speedily whilst delivering his speech. Well done to you both.
The children in Year R have been building a huge pirate ship this week; it is almost ready to set sail! They have a Pirate Day planned for next Tuesday, which I know will be great fun. Shiver me timbers!
Looking through the school diary this morning, there are so many things coming up in the next few weeks. It will be an exciting and enjoyable time in school for everyone.
Have a lovely weekend,
Elizabeth
