Year R, 1 and 2 Nativity, Christmas preparation and Stone Age Day!

We are now well into December and we started the week with our Advent Liturgy and lit the purple first candle on our wreath. Our kings, shepherds and holy family are making their way towards the stable, the children do enjoy watching them getting closer. The Travelling Cribs have started their journeys to everyone's homes during Advent.  It is a time of preparation and making ourselves ready both inside and outside for Christmas. We have a beautiful Christmas tree in place in the hall and we switched on the lights on our hall display during our liturgy.

Things are getting festive today, we have another mufti day this time for bottles and preparation in full swing for The Christmas Market tomorrow from 11-2pm. The children have planned many of the stalls for their £5 challenges. It all sounds very exciting, please come and join us tomorrow.

We have started the Christmas performances off with Year R, 1 and 2’s Nativity, ‘The Inn-spectors!’ The children loved performing for their parents and families and watching the children, it was clear that they had all enjoyed learning the songs, dances and actions. Although some of them are still only four, they knew when to come and off the stage without any prompting. I was very impressed by them all. Well done everyone.

Years 3 and 4 are preparing a very special Carol Service in the final week of term and Years 5 and 6 are putting the finishing touches to their Christmas production, ‘The Spirit of Giving’ which they will perform next week.   The children are very much looking forward to showing us all what they have been working on. I’m really looking forward to seeing their performances in full, I have seen bits of them during rehearsals and from my office the singing does sound lovely.

Year 3 enjoyed a Stone Age Day yesterday; this was a wonderful celebration of all that they have learnt in their topic. They made Butser pig biscuits, stone age jewellery, baskets and models of Stonehenge and the children looked fantastic in their stone age outfits!

We are all looking forward to the Reindeer Run for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice on Monday afternoon, we already have amazing amounts of money coming in. Remember to bring back your sponsorship forms.

Have a lovely weekend and hope to see everyone at the Christmas Market tomorrow,

Elizabeth
