Reindeer Run, singing and Christmas dinner!

It's been a very busy Christmassy week with performances and plays and preparations taking place every day.

Monday afternoon saw over 200 reindeer running around the playground to raise money for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. The sponsorship money has been pouring in and when combined with Stan’s incredible fundraising we will have raised well over £3000. The children loved the run too and their antlers!

This week we have enjoyed seeing Years 5 and 6 who performed their musical Christmas play 'The Spirit of Giving’ to the whole school. The story reminded us of how fortunate we are to have so much and to think of those for whom Christmas is a difficult time of year, those in hospital, missing relatives or away from home. It was very moving and also entertaining and the children did brilliantly learning all their lines and the many songs too. They finished by returning to the true meaning of Christmas.

Our KS 2 Choir sang on Tuesday evening at a very special Christmas Celebration concert at the Holy Trinity Church in Guildford in raise money for the Fountain Centre. The children sang so beautifully and were highly praised by the audience. The other singers were amazing; the children sat listening in awe. It was a wonderful experience taking part in the concert and having the opportunity to listen to such lovely singing.

I'm very proud of all our children, they are funny, thoughtful, confident and talented and I hope that they will always remember these special moments at school.

More than two hundred Christmas lunches will be served today! There is always a lovely atmosphere in the dinner hall on Christmas lunch day and the children love the Christmas crackers too (we will be recycling them this year too!). The children don’t have to queue up for their lunches today as the teachers and TAs (dressed in Christmas hats and jumpers) will serve them at the tables as a treat!

We have our final week of term next week. We have the Year 3 and 4 Carol Service to look forward to and I hope that many families will join us for our Advent Mass on Tuesday morning at 9:30am and for Carols Round the Tree next Friday afternoon at 1pm before we break up for Christmas at 2pm.

Have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
