Autumnal weather, Huckleberries Farm and House Captain speeches..

It really feels like autumn now; we are managing to stay outside as much as possible whilst we still can. We have had our new Year R children at school full time this week. I think they, and their teachers, will be feeling quite tired today! They have settled in so well and are having a fantastic time exploring all the learning activities in the Year R classroom. They have been very busy playing in the builder's yard, and the circus, writing their names and numbers.

We have a new student, Olivia, who has joined Year 1 this week, I know that her classmates have already made her feel very welcome.

We normally have a special House Captain’s assembly where our Year 6 children present their speeches to the rest of the school and all the children vote to choose the best House Captains. This time we have had to do this virtually, and it has been a great success! What amazing, creative speeches, and the children have set out their ideas and aims brilliantly! Well done Year 6. Here they are:

We have been very fortunate to secure funding for another group of children to attend Huckleberries Nurture Farm in Elstead for six weekly sessions. The eight children went for the first time yesterday and had an amazing day looking after the animals and exploring the farm and they even made clay models too.

This week in our assemblies we have talked about treating others with generosity and kindness and also, St Matthew, it was his feast day on Monday. St Matthew was thought to have been a tax collector called Levi, because of his profession, he would not have been a popular member of society. Jesus saw the good in him and called Matthew to follow him. The children talked about people who have shown kindness and generosity to them and they all thought about how they can show the same generous spirit to others this week.

Congratulations to our next groups of children in Year 5 making their First Holy Communion this Sunday. We hope you all have a wonderful day.

Have a lovely weekend,

Elizabeth
